For the time being, the North American Basketball Championship (NBA) has been successful in segregating players in a “bubble,” with only 0.6 percent of the coronavirus tests performed being positive.
The 22 teams that made it to the playoffs or still have a chance to go there moved into Disney World in Florida a week ago. In the first week, 322 tests were performed there and two infections were detected in patients recovering at home. Two basketball players were subjected to a ten-day extra quarantine because they left the "bubble." One of them is Bruno Caboclo from the Houston Rockets and the other is Richaun Holmes from the Sacramento Kings, the latter receiving only one ordered food from the courier, but this is also prohibited under strict rules.
According to an NBA announcement, they had tested positive for 19 basketball before moving in, including Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook, who could join their peers after mandatory home quarantine.
The current results are also encouraging in light of the fact that the state of Florida is one of the most severely infected in the United States, with a record 15,299 new cases registered on Sunday and 12,624 new cases on Monday.
The tournament, which was interrupted in March, is scheduled to resume on July 30, with each team playing eight more matches from the regular season and then the playoffs starting.
