The Hungarian men's hockey team finished third in the Riga Olympic qualifiers after beating the Italian team 2-1 in Sunday's final round.
Federal captain Sean Simpson, who got 5-3 from the French on Thursday and 9-0 from the host on Friday, defended well this time. Gergő Nagy was in the lead and Ákos Mihály - who had this first goal in the national team - was successful with the same number of people. From the strength of the Italians, he ran only for beautification.
The quartet’s first-place finisher, the Latvian national team, made it to next February’s Beijing Winter Olympics. The home team won 2-1 against the French in Sunday's "final" and scored that one goal in three rounds.
