Beijing 2022 - Petra Jászapáti: pleasure skating at the World Championships

According to Petra Jászapáti, an Olympic bronze medalist in Beijing with the mixed relay, members of the short-track speed skating team will be preparing for pleasure skating at the World Championships in Montreal on March 18-20.

The 23-year-old competitor said on M4 Sport’s Sports News on Monday that they don’t know yet if they could cancel the World Cup, they are all preparing to start in Canada.

"Most of the team is there for every training, we try to prepare to the best of our ability, we will have the opportunity for a kind of pleasure skating there at the end of the season," said Jászapáti, who finished 7th in the individual and 8th in the 1000m in Beijing.

“We’ve learned to race in the mixed relay over the years, too, and I feel much safer now than it was three or four years ago when it was introduced,” the speed skater declared, adding that this number is much more unpredictable than any other.

"I didn't think I would win a medal at the Olympics, but the mixed shift gave me the opportunity to do so. At the same time, I am also proud of my individual achievements," Jászapáti said.

Hungarian speed skaters won three medals at the February Winter Olympics: Liu Shaoang won 500 meters - he became the first Hungarian individual winter Olympic champion - and finished third in the 1000 meters, as well as in the mixed relay with Jászapát, Zsófia Kónya and Liu Shaolal. Henry. In addition, at 1,500 meters, Liu Shaoang was fourth and his brother Liu Shaolin was sixth, as was the defending men’s relay.
