In rainy weather, on a wet track, four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, the German driver of Ferrari, proved to be the fastest in the second free practice of the 35th Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix on Friday afternoon.
Early in the afternoon there was a lot of precipitation around Mogyoród - the timer of the Formula 3s on the track before the Formula 1 training was interrupted and they couldn't finish it then - and the wet track made the training unreal, as there were hardly any cars outside.
When the pilots ventured out, after a few test and then measured laps, most of them quickly went back into the boxing. They finished without a time in seven measured times, including defending champion and six-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, although Mercedes ’British driver proved to be the fastest in the first free practice at 1: 16.003 minutes in the morning. For Vettel, this time, 1: 40.464 minutes was enough to take the lead.
In the morning training, second-place finisher Valtteri Bottas of Finland (Mercedes) retained his position in the afternoon, while third-place finisher Carlos Sainz (McLaren) of Spain finished in third place. Racing Point’s two drivers, Lance Stroll of Canada and Sergio Pérez of Mexico, were once again in the top five.
