For the third time in a row, Toyota won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, although there has really been little opponent for the Japanese factory since the rivals got out in the elite category.
The success was brought together by the Japanese constructor Sébastien Buemi, Nakajima Kazuki and Brendon Hartley. Buemi of Switzerland and Nakajima of Japan had their third success, while Hartley of New Zealand was a member of the winning band for the second time.
In second place was Rebellion Racing with Frenchman Norman Nato, Brazilian Bruno Senna and American Gustavo Menezes, and in third place was another Toyota with Japan’s Kobajasi Kamui, Britain’s Mike Conway and Argentina’s José Maria Lopez.
The 88th Le Mans reliability race was held behind closed doors due to the coronavirus epidemic and was postponed from June to September.
The leading group:
1. Toyota (car number 8) 387 laps
2. Rebellion (No. 1) 5 rounds disadvantage
3. Toyota (7) 6 lap disadvantage
