Hamilton has also rolled on the Hungaroring so far, he has the 90th pole!

Lewis Hamilton won the time trial of the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring. The Mercedes classic got its 90th start in its career.

This is the 90th pole position of the 35-year-old pilot’s career, and this year is the second. On the track in Mogyoród, Hamilton can start from the lead for the seventh time during his career, and he can win the Hungarian GP for the eighth time. The defending champion achieved a lap record of 1: 13.447 minutes.

Alongside Hamilton, his teammate Valtteri Bottas from Finland, who is leading the World Championship points race, can start, while Canada’s Lance Stroll (Racing Point) finished third in the time trial. The second line was "rented out" by Racing Point, behind its colleague Sergio Pérez of Mexico in fourth place.

Ferraris have improved over the first two Austrian races, with four-time World Cup winner Sebastian Vettel of Germany in fifth and Charles Leclerc of Monaco starting in sixth place on Sunday.

Red Bull, Max Verstappen, was only seventh and Alexander Albon 13th on the time trial.

McLaren’s riders, who performed well in Austria on both weekends, were a little behind the lead this time, with Lando Norris taking the eighth and Carlos Sainz the ninth. However, Williams, who had been anticipated by experts for the position of chief driver before the season, completed an excellent time trial: George Russell from Britain could start from 12th and Nicholas Latifi from Canada from 15th.

The 70-round Hungarian Grand Prix - behind closed gates - starts at 15.10 on Sunday.
