Coronavirus - F1 grand prizes are on hiatus, August replacement may come

Ross Brawn, Formula One’s sports director, said they could make up for missed races during the August break.

Brawn told Sky Sports that despite the circumstances, he believes they will be able to host a quality and exciting world championship in 2020 as well. To do this, they look at when they can make up for missed races at the beginning of the season and then referred to the traditional August break.

"There will be several weekends there where we can race. I think so we can put together a fairly normal race calendar for the rest of the season," he said.

He added that teams need to show great flexibility this year as they will be forced to work under unusual circumstances.

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced on February 12 that the Chinese Grand Prix will not be held on April 19 due to the coronavirus epidemic. On Friday, he announced the postponement of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, along with the Bahrain race scheduled for next weekend and the Vietnam race for the first weekend in April. The series is scheduled to begin in late May, Europe.

This year, according to the competition calendar, the Hungarian Grand Prix will be held on August 2, and the series would continue with the Belgian Grand Prix at the end of the month, on the 30th.
