Vuelta was relegated to Espana - Bennett, Ackermann the stage winner

First-placed Irishman Sam Bennett was later relegated to Vuelta for a foul after the ninth stage of the Espana road bike race, with German Pascal Ackermann winning, while Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz remains in the lead overall.

On Thursday, a 157.7-kilometer, non-categorized ascent-free stage between Castrillo del Val and Aguilar de Campoo awaited cyclists. As expected, the two-person escape of the day had no chance of "getting home," arriving at the top twenty kilometers, capturing the leaders, and deciding to take precedence over field hair.

In the sprint runner-up, as in the fourth stage, the winner of the Tour de France points race, Bennett, was the fastest, ahead of Ackermann and Belgium's Gerben Thijssen, but as he took on two occasions, he blocked Emils Liepins of Latvia irregularly. Thus, for the first time in his career, Ackermann won a stage at Vueltan, followed by Max Kanter from Germany.

His composite leaders all came with the field, so Carapaz keeps the red jersey with an unchanged advantage over Primoz Roglic, who is celebrating his 31st birthday just Thursday. The defending Slovenian cyclist had a technical problem 13 kilometers before the finish, but was able to catch up with the field after changing his bike.

Section 9, Castrillo del Val-Aguilar de Campoo, 157.7 km:

1. Pascal Ackermann (German, BORA-Hansgrohe) 3:39:55

On Friday, the 185th Vuelta on the Spaniard is waiting for the field to take 185 kilometers between Castro Urdiales and Suances. The Spanish circuit, which overlapped for six days with the Giro d’Italia, which ended on Sunday, is scheduled to end in Madrid next Sunday.
