US Open - Djokovic was disqualified
Novak Djokovic, a Serbian in the first place, was disqualified from his eight-final match due to a ball hit by a line referee, ending the American Open.
The number one favorite in the men’s race in the opening set against Spain’s Pablo Carreno-Busta led his rival in a 6: 5 lead at the end of Game 11, angrily hitting the ball, finding one of the line judges in his throat who had to be removed from the venue. After the incident, a long debate ensued, the Serbian star negotiated with the match manager and the first man of the competition for nearly ten minutes, then acknowledged that, according to the rules, he had reached the fate of the disqualification.
Djokovic - who has won all 26 games so far this year - is set to win his 18th Grand Slam in New York, where he has won the US Open trophy three times in his career.
