All bike enthusiasts will enjoy the Tour de Hongrie road cycling circuit field, according to the chief organizer.
Speaking to the current channel of M1, Károly Eisenkrammer said that they originally targeted a field of twenty teams, a surprising number of the world elite World Tour and the class below it, the procontinental category, applied, so they had to increase the number to 22. He added that changes, setbacks are conceivable due to the epidemic situation, and they also have to rethink the organization on a weekly basis, as the pandemic also makes things difficult for cooperating partners.
“There’s quite some excitement in how we can get to the race healthy and at the same time,” he noted. He covered it, they are made with serious covid procedures, and the field will be kept in a bubble so that anyone who comes here with a negative test can go home without the virus.
All said, they are confident that by mid-May, the vaccinations will make the situation easier, and they can even open the start and finish areas, the venues of the awards ceremony, which were closed to spectators last year. At the same time, they are preparing for a "closed goalkeeper" competition for the time being, which, however, will reach millions of people worldwide through television coverage.
The Tour de Hongrie field, which returns to Budapest after four years, according to the main organizer, "will be a pleasure for all bicycle fans".
The current first category Hungarian round competition must meet the requirements of serious sports and media for two years in order to enter the Pro Series.
"We jumped on this last year and it looks like we will succeed this year as well. We are far above the required number of teams and our media presence is more than ten times what is expected of us, so we are preparing for the level jump," explained Károly Eisenkrammer.
The 42nd Tour de Hongrie will take place from May 12 to 16, with 132 cyclists from 22 teams taking part in the event. So far, the organizers have announced the nomination of six World Tour (World Team) and nine Procontinental (Pro Team) teams.
