The pole vaulter made his 12th win in the Duplantis series

Armand Duplantis won his 12th win in the series at the Athletics Championships in Lausanne on Wednesday: the world’s top pole vault holder finished 6.07 meters ahead.

The 20-year-old Swedish rider, who set the world record at 6.18 meters indoors in February, also tried the outdoor top-down, but failed at 6.15 meters. Thus, this peak is still held by the Ukrainian Serhiy Bubka at 6.14 meters since 1994.

Behind the double, world champion American Sam Kendricks finished in second place, also over six meters (6.02). Third Brazilian Olympic defending champion Thiago Braz became (5.72) ahead of former world record holder Renaud Lavillenie of France (5.72).

For women, Sweden’s Anelica Bengtsson won (4.72) at a competition in central Lausanne. The Swiss city would have originally hosted a Diamond League battle, but due to the coronavirus epidemic, an inviting street event was held in front of a thousand spectators.
