Ski shooter Johannes Thingnes Bö, who won four gold medals at the Beijing Winter Olympics, of which he was the most successful athlete, will no longer compete this season.

The 28-year-old Norwegian rider, in a statement from Monday's sports federation in his home country, put it extremely physically and mentally stressful about the coronavirus situation and the five-ring preparation.

"I haven't had the opportunity to take a long break since the 2018 Olympics, but I want to travel motivated, in the best possible condition for the 2026 Five-Ring Games," said 12-time world champion Bö, who also collected a bronze in Beijing in addition to four gold medals. so he already has five gold, two silver and one bronze medals from the Olympics.

There are three more rounds left in the World Cup season - Kontiolahti, Otepaa, Oslo - the Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet leads, with Bö finishing fifth with 196 points.
