About half of the tickets for the Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Paris, which are due in two years, will belong to the cheap category, the French organizers announced.
A total of 13.4 million tickets will be sold, of which 10 million will be for the Summer Games and 3.4 million for the Paralympic competitions. According to insidethegames.biz's report, the tickets will be available through a single, worldwide digital platform, which, according to the organizers, enables greater security for customers.
In all sports, the cheapest Olympic tickets cost 24 euros, and those for the Paralympics start at 15 euros.
The process of getting tickets will start at the end of 2022, when registration opens, and the sale itself is planned to start in February 2023.
"On this digital platform, from day one, people in France and all over the world have the same chance to buy tickets. Our goal is to find the ideal balance so that all sports are accessible to everyone," said Tony Estanguet, president of the Paris2024 organizing committee.
He added that they want to "optimize and maximize" revenues. This means that they want to get 1.1 billion euros from the entire ticket sales program of the Paris Olympics. The budget of the games is also financed from private sources, and the ticket purchase program accounts for nearly one third of the planned revenues, the portal wrote.
