More sporting events are being postponed at home and abroad due to the coronavirus

Many sporting events are canceled in Hungary and around the world due to the coronavirus epidemic. On Monday, among other things, the boxing Olympic qualifier, originally scheduled for 11 days, was interrupted.

The European Volleyball Association (CEV) has postponed all its series until further notice. In addition to the European Cup series (Champions League, CEV Cup, Challenge Cup), this also affects the beach volleyball competitions, the youth European Championship qualifiers and the Europa League. The Hungarian national teams would have been included in the latter two.

This year’s Isle of Man Motor Race, which would have been held from May 30th to June 13th, has been canceled. An island race was first held on the island off the north west coast of England in 1907, which is considered to be the most famous and dangerous race in the sport.

Seven races in the NASCAR series of in-car speeds have been postponed following new restrictions in the United States banning events of more than 50 people for eight weeks. The organizers highlighted that they hope to still be able to hold all 36 races of the season. They added that they are confident that the series can continue in Martinsville on May 3, which began in mid-February and has managed to hold four races.

Due to the resignation of Finnish Jokerit Helsinki and Kazakh Baris Nur-Nursultan, the governing body of the Russian-based Hockey Championship (KHL) has ordered a one-week break in the playoffs, in which six exclusively Russian teams remain in competition: SZKA Saint Petersburg, Siberia, AK Barsz Kazany, Salavat Ufa, CSKA Moscow and Dinamo Moscow.

The Valencia football team even announced on Sunday that five of its players, including Ezequiel Garay and Eliaquim Mangala, had tested positive for the coronavirus. The band had already announced on its website on Monday that about a third of its frame and staff had produced a positive test. Highlighted: everyone involved is asymptomatic and is in your home. Valencia met Atalanta in the eighth final of the Football Champions League, with the first match of the duel taking place on 19 February in Milan, one of the hotspots in Italy. The rematch was held behind closed gates in Valencia last Tuesday in Spain.
