Golf - Scandal Hero Proven Patrick Reed Wins WGC Tournament

Patrick Reed of the United States won the WGC in Mexico, the golfers' current World Cup. Reed became involved in a crossfire of criticism throughout the season, accused of fraud in a tournament.

Patrick Reed of the United States won the $ 10.5 million Mexican Tournament of the Professional Golfers World Series (WGC) in a big battle.

At the end of the four-day race, 29-year-old Reed fought his way to victory with his compatriot Bryson DeChambeau. On Sunday, Reed was ahead of his rival with a birdie on the 15th, 16th and 17th stops (one less than the stroke count), and even fought for a mistake in the closing 18th hole.

Reed could be very pleased with the victory after being accused of cheating at one of the earlier rounds of the season (Tiger's "home race" at the Hero World Challenge). It happened that the sand in the bunker had hit his sand several times during the backlash, which was prohibited on the one hand, and on the other hand was intended to smooth out the sand which was unfavorable to him, and was subsequently punished. There would have been no problem with this, there was a "mistake" like this - say "stroking" is not uncommon, but because it touches the sand by mistake, yes - but in such cases the player admits the mistake and in fact he himself reports the offense. In Reed's case, the anger aroused because the player really "stroked" the sand and denied that he had made a mistake. In addition to being unfair, he did a great deal of stupidity, as he had to feel that he was hitting the sand with his bat - why deny it - and secondly, that he had multiple cameras - and besides being unfair, he was stupid.

Reed won his second WGC triumph in his career and eighth in the PGA Series. He received $ 1.82 million ($ 615 million) for his success in Mexico City.

Results:

1. Patrick Reed (American) 266 (69, 63, 67, 67)

2. Bryson DeChambeau (American) 267 (68, 63, 71, 65)

3. Jon Rahm (Spanish) 269 (72, 69, 61, 67) and

Erik van Rooyen (South Africa) 269 (70, 62, 67, 70)
