Giro d'Italia - Van der Poel won the opening stage in Visegrád

On Friday, the Dutch Mathieu van der Poel won the opening stage between Budapest and Visegrád in the Giro d'Italia road cycling race, the first three stages of which are organized in Hungary. As the best Hungarian, Attila Valter was 29th.

As expected, the stage was decided on the climb leading to Fellegvár in Visegrád, on which the pair considered most likely to succeed in the stage, Eritrean Biniam Girmay and the Dutchman, who won the Tour of Flanders for the second time this year, competed for the first place. Finally, with his victory, the latter can be the first to wear the pink jersey belonging to the overall leader in this year's competition. Valter Attila finished with the best, four seconds behind the winner.

On Saturday, another stage in Hungary, the 9.2-kilometer individual time trial in Budapest, follows, the first starting at 2 p.m. from Hősök Square. The field of the 105th Giro d'Italia covers 3,445.6 kilometers until it reaches the finish line on May 29 in the time trial in Verona.
