Giro d'Italia - historic success, Jai Hindley is the first Australian Giro winner

Jai Hindley became the first Australian winner in the history of the Giro d'Italia, Italian Matteo Sobrero won the final time trial of the Italian road cycling race in Verona on Sunday.

Second in two years, Hindley held on to 1:18 of his 1:25 advantage over 2019 winner Richard Carapaz of Ecuador.

All three Hungarian participants, Valter Attila, Erik Fetter and Barnabás Peák, went through the three-week competition.

Frenchman Arnaud Démare won the cyclamen jersey as the winner of the sprinters' points race, Dutchman Koen Bouwman, who won the mountain points race, can take home the blue distinctive jersey, while the white jersey for the best cyclist under the age of 25 was awarded to Spanish Juan Pedro López.
