Giro d'Italia - Again, Valter's teammate won the sprint after the pursuit race, Peák 13th.

On Friday, the 150-kilometer two-star difficulty distance between Sanremo and Cuneo awaited the field, with a third-category ascent and a 1,450-meter difference in elevation at the third.

In the first part of the stage running on the beach, the field allowed a breakaway of five people, of which, after 35 kilometers, Romain Bardet unexpectedly dropped out of the overall fourth place due to illness. The French cyclist vomited when he transferred from one DSM team car to another after the race was abandoned.

At the beginning of the climb, the lead had a five-minute advantage, at which point Valter Attila (Groupama-FDJ) worked at the front of the field because of his sprinter teammate Arnaud Démare. The difference increased to 6 minutes and 40 seconds until the top of the hill, but this pace was withstood by the sprinters in the field, whose teams took up the chase on the downhill. The high pace even split the field in the closing thirty kilometers, but thanks to this, they kept getting closer to the lead, which had shrunk to four. The foursome of French Nicolas Prodhomme, Dutch Julius van den Berg and Pascal Eenkhorn and Italian Mirco Maestri were caught at the end of a crazy chase, 700 meters before the finish line.

In the field race - now for the third time at this year's Giro - Démare from Cyclamen Triko proved to be the fastest, thus thanking his team for the whole day's work. German Phil Bauhaus, who triumphed in the opening stage of last year's Tour de Hongrie in Kaposvár and in Tata, was second, and British Mark Cavendish, who triumphed in Balatonfüred in the third stage of the Italian tour, was third. Barnabás Peák - now sprinting for himself - took 13th place, Erik Fetter (EOLO-Kometa) got one and Valter nearly eight minutes.

Spain's Juan Pedro López still keeps his pink jersey at the top of the standings.

European champion and Paris-Roubaix winner Sonny Colbrelli was a spectator in Cuneo, who collapsed after reaching the finish line on March 21, at the end of the opening stage of the Catalan circuit, and had to be resuscitated, and then received a pacemaker at the end of April.

On Saturday, the field awaits the 147 kilometers between Santena and Turin. The race with a total distance of 3,445.6 kilometers - the first three stages of which were organized in Hungary - will end next Sunday with the time trial in Verona.
