Davis Cup - Nadal passed on the host Spaniards

With the victory of Rafael Nadal and Roberto Bautista-Agut, the Spanish national team on Wednesday secured their promotion from the Madrid Davis Cup final.

Since the home side won both sets against the Croats, the doubles match will not have a stake. The Spanish finish in Group B with two victories, followed by the Russians and the Croatians bid farewell.

There will be six three-way teams competing in the Madrid tournament until Thursday, with the top two finishers and the top two runners-up. Thursday night and Friday the semi-finals are on Thursday and Saturday, and the finals are on Sunday.

Each match lasts up to two winning sets, with two singles and doubles matches played.

The four semifinals will automatically qualify for next year's tournament, while the two worst scorers will bid farewell.
