The French cycling race, the Tour de France, is postponed for two months. The postponement is due to the coronavirus epidemic, as French President Emmanuel Macron postponed the date of the ban on mass events until mid-July.
According to the International Federation (UCI) on Wednesday, the match, originally scheduled for June 27-July 19, will be held from August 29 to September 20.
"The cycling world has unanimously supported the idea, including those who don't like us. Some teams have said they could close it if there is no Tour in 2020. The Tour should be the basis of the redesigned race calendar," said race director Christian Prudhomme.
He said the route of the three-week battle will remain 99 percent unchanged, meaning there will be a "big start" in Nice and traditionally a finish in Paris.
Prudhomme also talked about earlier dates being raised, but riders need a few months to properly prepare for a race like the Tour.
