According to Valter Attila's own admission, he could have set a better time, but he just wanted to enjoy the second stage on Saturday in the Giro d'Italia road cycling race.
"The audience was quite impressive. To put it bluntly, they distracted me from the race, but I let them distract me because I wanted to enjoy every moment of it. According to the cyclist, who was wearing the pink jersey of the overall leader for three days last year, he might have been able to do ten seconds better than this, but he will be able to bring it back many times over thanks to the energy he received from the home fans.
After Valter finished his statements after the finish line, he once again received a huge cheer from the fans, and the 23-year-old competitor thanked them for the trust with a wide grin on his face.
Among the Hungarians, the national champion of the time trial, Erik Fetter, was the best, finishing 45th with 12:28 minutes, Barnabás Peák, one second behind him, 51st, and Valter 82nd with 12:41 minutes.
The first three stages of the 105th Giro d'Italia will be held in Hungary, on Sunday the 201-kilometer distance between Kaposvár and Balatonfüred awaits the field.
