Alpine Skiing - Michelle Gisin's first victory

Michelle Gisin reaped the first victory of her career in the Alpine Ski World Cup series: the Swiss rider won the downhill run in Semmering, Austria on Tuesday.

In the combination, Olympic champion Gisin achieved the second best time in the first race, but his disadvantage was only two hundredths of a second behind American Mikaela Shiffrin. In the second race, then, the 27-year-old raced ahead of the track’s four-time world and one-time Olympic champion, who eventually proved to be better than Katharina Liensberger of Austria.
