Alcaraz returned with a win

After nearly four months of forced rest, the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz returned with a victory, winning on Wednesday in the second round of the men's tennis tournament on clay courts in Buenos Aires with a total prize of 626,000 dollars (HUF 228 million).

The 19-year-old former world number one player clashed with Serbia's László Györe (Laslo Djere) in the round of 16 and triumphed in a twisty match.

"It feels great to win again," Alcaraz said after the two-hour match. "It's been a long time without competition and games, but I finally have my first success in 2023."

Results, round of 16:

Alcaraz (Spain, 1st)-Djere (Serbia) 6:2, 4:6, 6:2

Norrie (British, 2nd)-Díaz (Argentina) 4:6, 7:5, 7:6 (8-6)

Lajovic (Serbia)-Ugo (Argentina) 6:3, 6:1

Etcheverry (Argentina)-Carballés (Spain) 4:6, 6:1, 6:2
