Heads of Paris Saint-Germain, defending champion at the French Football Championship, announced on Tuesday that they had ousted Thomas Tuchel from the post of head coach.
In the Ligue 1 table, now the Qatari president of the third Paris association thanked the German coach and his staff for their work in recent years. This means that the second coach, Zsolt Lőw Tuchell, will be forced to leave the French capital.
PSG recalled in the announcement that the 47-year-old took control of the team in July 2018, scoring 95 wins in 127 draws with 12 draws and 20 defeats. It was highlighted that Tuchel also won two league titles, as well as the French Cup and League Cup with PSG, which was able to play in the Champions League final for the first time in its existence in August.
Tuchel's departure was already reported in German and French papers at Christmas, but his official confirmation had to wait until now. Argentio Mauricio Pochettino is the most likely candidate for the PSG head coach position, according to press reports, and he is said to be preparing to lure his compatriot, six-time golden ball Lionel Mess, from Barcelona to Paris if he is appointed.
