Ronald Koeman will remain head coach of FC Barcelona, Catalunya Radio reported after the Dutch specialist met the leaders of the Catalan football club on Tuesday, including Joan Laporta, who was in the presidency a week ago.

According to the radio, the staff expressed confidence in Koeman, who stated at the meeting that he wanted to have more influence over the club’s transfer policy. The former Barca football manager has been leading the team since August last year, and his contract is valid until 2022.

Barcelona are currently in second place in the Spanish league with 62 points scored in 28 matches, four points behind Atlético Madrid. The band will play in the final of the Spanish King’s Cup on April 17 with Athletic Bilbao, but was eliminated from the Champions League: in the eighth final duel, Paris Saint-Germain ordered him to stop.

After the BL farewell, Laporta, who still left the coaching question open before his election, said last week that he thinks the team has gotten better under Koeman’s leadership and will continue to improve.

“Ronald, we trust you,” the club leader said on behalf of the new presidency, marking the cup victory and championship title as a new season goal.
