Due to the planned shutdown in Germany for Easter, it became questionable next Saturday for the RB Leipzig-Bayern Munich to host the football Bundesliga.

Chancellor Angela Merkel and federal state leaders agreed on Tuesday that due to the escalating coronavirus epidemic, private and public life will be virtually shut down on the long weekend of Easter this year from April 1st to April 5th, and grocery stores will only be open on Saturdays. . People are encouraged to stay home for the entire duration of the five-day holiday.

Michael Kretschmer, prime minister of the Saxon federal state, which also includes Leipzig, has so far avoided the question of whether the summit could take place at the Red Bull Arena.

"It will be decided in the coming days whether it is possible," the politician said.

If Bayern, the defending champion and four-point leader, and the second-placed Leipzig, which also employs three Hungarian players - Péter Gulácsi, Willi Orbán and Dominik Szoboszlai - get a green light, then even spectators can be present at the stadium. The city’s mayor, Burkhard Jung, said they would experimentally change the local coronavirus protocol from Thursday. As part of this, the football club has already announced its demand to allow thousands of fans with negative virus tests into the stands.
