The goal of MLSZ's coaching training is to educate players in line with international trends

Zsolt Fórián - who has been leading the coaching of the Hungarian Football Association since June 2020 - hopes that the new guidelines of the program can bring about a visible change in Hungarian football within a few years.

The expert, who reported on his ideas in a background discussion, said one of the most important tasks of coaching is to steer and inspire young, inexperienced professionals in the right direction. In addition, there is the greatest emphasis on recruitment, namely to increase the prestige of coaches educating young footballers and to ensure that young talent is appropriately selected and trained between the ages of 6 and 15.

He added that the traditions of Hungarian football and the principle of the proactive game concept, which is still widespread, play a key role in Hungarian coaching:

"In today's international football, a valuable footballer who can play against pressure, who can make good decisions even in such a difficult situation and can quickly switch from attack to defense or vice versa. Modern football dictates this, the higher you need to be able to defend, on the other hand and we have to get the ball out as confidently as possible. In the foreseeable future, there will be a visible improvement in the quality of domestic football.

To this end, the goal in current coaching training is to develop a positive, supportive attitude where everyone can rejoice in the success of the other. Methodological development and knowledge sharing are extremely important, and continuous cooperation with clubs is an essential part of it, he emphasized.

Zsolt Fórián emphasized that although the clubs have their own philosophy, for the time being the associations seem to be open to the program of the association, which will receive all the help, be it the latest video curriculum or a professional publication.

It was said in the conversation that it is also in the interest of clubs and coaches who have already "left" the system to keep up with the changes. The association is constantly monitoring the work, and if it experiences a serious backlog somewhere - in the quality of the game or a training, for example - it will provide all the support to the teams and coaches, but in extreme cases it can also intervene with sanctions.
