Tattoos are not allowed for Chinese national football team players

In China, football team players have been strictly banned from making new tattoos for themselves.

The country’s sports authority has stated that players must “show a positive spirit and set a good example” in preserving the moral values inherent in Chinese society.

"It is strictly forbidden for members of the national team and youth team under the age of 23 to have new tattoos. Those who already have tattoos are advised to remove them themselves," the State Sports Bureau of the People's Republic of China said in a resolution. It is forbidden to recruit tattooed athletes in teams of players under the age of.

Chinese authorities banned the televising of celebrities with tattoos in January 2018, and football players can only appear on the screen to cover up their tattoos. The provision also applies to Chinese national teams.
