Premier League - Klopp wants five substitutions
League champion Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp has once again spoken out that English football league leaders should reintroduce the five substitutions.
This is not the first time the German expert has indicated that the dense competition calendar and the epidemic put players to the test, who are thus much more tired and more easily injured.
“There was a discussion between the head coaches that if we had to decide to reintroduce the five exchange options, we would accept it at a rate of 15-5,” Klopp said, adding that recently the ratio was only 11-9 in favor of supporters of change.
Five substitutions have been reintroduced in the Champions League, other top leagues in Europe, and the lower-class English leagues, but only three can still be changed in the Premier League, and at least 14 joint support is needed to change that. At the summer restart following the epidemic, five could also be exchanged in PL.
“We need to change the substitution rule because the Christmas season is coming, where we will be when we will have to play two matches in 48 hours,” the German head coach added.
