Mourning: Pelé, perhaps the greatest ever, has passed away

Pelé, three-time world champion Brazilian footballer, legendary figure of the sport and the world of sports, died at the age of eighty-two.

Pelé made his debut at Santos for the adults, then became a world-class player, strengthening the team for nearly twenty years, between 1956 and 1974. He ended his career with the New York Cosmos, where he played for three seasons between 1975 and 1977. In addition to the trophies he won with his clubs, he achieved his greatest success with the national team, with which he became world champion in 1958, 1962 and 1970. Apart from him, no other footballer has yet achieved this.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) chose him as the athlete of the century, while the international organization dealing with the history and statistics of football (IFFHS) awarded him the recognition of the footballer of the century, and in 2014 the international federation of the sport (FIFA) declared him an honorary golden ball, which he achieved during his active playing days as a Brazilian, he could not get it yet.
