Manchester United, which went bankrupt over the weekend, signed Cavani

Uruguayan national team striker Edinson Cavani will continue his career on the Manchester United football team.

The English club announced on its website Monday night on the last day of the transfer deadline that it had agreed for a year with the 33-year-old striker, whose contract could be extended for another year on an optional basis.

Cavani signed for Europe in 2007, has since scored 341 goals in his clubs - he has been successful in the Champions League 35 times - and has also been a goal scorer in the Italian and French leagues. The striker came from Paris Saint-Germain, where his contract expired in the summer. He won six league titles with PSG and is the club’s most successful scorer with 200 hits.

As a member of the South American national team, he scored 50 goals in 116 performances, and in 2011 was part of winning the Copa América.
