Haaland could be a Guardiola record proof

Head coach Josep Guardiola said Manchester City could break the club's transfer record and sacrifice up to £ 100 million (£ 42.5 billion) for a footballer.

There are growing speculations that Erling Haaland, one of the sport’s biggest promises, could leave Borussia Dortmund, and the Manchester band’s Catalan coach made the statement just before the two-team Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Sebastian Kehl, head of the Dortmund squad, said the club will do everything in its power to retain the twenty-year-old, who has 33 goals this season and will be signed to Borussia until the summer of 2024. Argentina’s Sergio Agüero is leaving Manchester at the end of the season, and British media have reported a keen interest in the club’s Haaland.

While the City has risen to be among the most spending clubs in Europe over the past decade, the highest amount it has ever spent on a player was £ 64 million paid to Benfica in September for Rúben Dias. Guardiola called a top-down transfer impossible last week, but on Monday he put it this way: a £ 100 million certificate is conceivable.

"In the past, the club had a determination not to pay £ 100 million or more for a single player. Maybe something will happen in the future if a decision is made that management wants to develop the team for the next five to ten years," he said. Guardiola.

According to press reports, Dortmund could set the value of Haaland at 180 million euros.
