For the 25th season of the Overseas Professional Football League (MLS), the 25 best players in the league’s history have been selected, including David Beckham.

Nearly 200 North American experts selected the top 25 out of 137 candidates. In addition to individual performance, the main aspects included the impact on the football team and the effectiveness of the team.

The former team captain of the English national team played six seasons at the Los Angeles Galaxy between 2007 and 2012, winning both 2011 and 2012 championships. The other two key players on the then-successful team, Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan, were also among the top 25.

Elite members include Carlos Valderrama of Colombia, Clint Dempsey of the United States and Sebastian Giovinco of Italy. In the narrowing down, however, names such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thierry Henry, Wayne Rooney, Kaka or David Villa bleed.
