The North American Professional Basketball League (NBA) revenue fell ten percent in the 2019/20 season by $ 8.3 billion.
The reason for the loss, according to the leaders of the league, is clearly the coronavirus epidemic. The loss of revenue from ticket sales is estimated at $ 800 million due to the pandemic, while ESPN television channel reported 400 million less revenue from sponsors and sales of marketing rights. The loss of TV broadcasts in the dispute with China has meant a loss of roughly 200 million, and the situation has since settled.
The 2019/2020 season of the NBA ended in Orlando in complete isolation, called a “bubble,” with the Los Angeles Lakers proving to be the best of the teams that moved in, which could celebrate its 17th league title.
In the new season, which could begin just before Christmas, again, without spectators alone, clubs can expect a loss of about 40 percent.
