Blues won the seventh final game, making it his first title.
St. Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup on Wednesday in the North American Ice Hockey League after winning 4-1 at Boston Bruins for the final, seventh match of the final. St. Louis, who has been a member of the League since 1967, won the first title of its history: it wasn't even able to win a match in three of its previous finals.
Blues goalkeeper Jordan Binnington 32 defended the team at a decisive meeting, setting the foundation for his team's success. The sleeper was ordered to the first frame last December, defending the Blues gate for the first time on January 7th, but since then he was unleashed from the beginner. Newcomer goalkeeper has already won Stanley Cup, but not like Binnigton now: he has defended the playoffs in all 16 winning matches.
Ryan O'Reilly and Alex Pietrangelo were the first of his companions, Brayden Schenn and Zach Sanford found in the third quarter, leading St. Louis to 4-0. Bruins beautified 2:10 minutes before the end of the meeting.
O'Reilly was chosen as the most valuable player in the playoffs, who scored five goals and four assists in the finals, and has been the first hockey player to finish in four major finals since 1985 with Wayne Gretzky.
The St. Louis finale came to a miracle: the team changed coach in November due to the bad start, Craig Berube took over Mike Yeo's seat on the bench, and on 3 January he was still in the final position of the field. He then won 30 out of 45 games, entered the playoffs where Winnipeg Jets (4-2) followed by Dallas Stars (4-3) and finally San Jose Sharks (4-2).
Blues has won a championship title after 52 years of waiting, the longest period in the league's history as a team's first Stanley Cup triumph. The six-time champion Boston could have celebrated again after 2011.
