NBA - The killer of Lorenzen Wright was sentenced to life in prison

The man who killed Lorenzen Wright, who spent 13 seasons in the North American Basketball Championship (NBA) in 2010, was sentenced to life in prison.

Billy Ray Turner, who is serving a 16-year sentence for another offense, will spend the rest of his years behind bars after the basketball player's ex-wife hired him to kill the then 34-year-old player - for a $1 million life insurance policy. In 2019, the ex-wife was sentenced to 30 years in prison as an instigator.

The body of the father of six was found in a swamp near Memphis with gunshot wounds after the area of the 911 call from his cell phone was identified. Gunshots could also be heard on the audio recording of the call.

The center, who retired in 2009, played in five clubs, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Atlanta Hawks, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Sacramento Kings and the Cleveland Cavaliers, in a total of 778 games.
