According to the president, there is no question that there will be an Olympics

There is no doubt that the Tokyo Olympics, which have been postponed to this summer, will be held, according to Thomas Bach.

"The question is how, not whether it will be," the president said in his opening speech at the 137th online congress of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). - "There is no doubt that the opening ceremony will be on July 23."

The German sports diplomat highlighted that despite the pandemic, 270 World Cup competitions or world championships have taken place since September, in which more than 200,000 coronavirus tests have been performed on 30,000 athletes.

"No virus has been released at any event. This is clear evidence that an international event can be organized while protecting everyone's health," said Bach, the only candidate in the organization's afternoon presidential election.

Moreover, according to the IOC president, the Tokyo Olympics have an advantage over previous events, as vaccinations have now become available.

The five-ring champion Bach, who fought in 1976, was elected IOC president in 2013, and is now the only candidate, so his term will certainly be extended for another four years.

The Tokyo Olympics, which have been postponed for a year, are scheduled to take place between July 23 and August 8.
